Hello all, just a quick line to let you know we are leaving for the Kalahari this afternoon so no new posts until Monday. We'll watch out for the lions that occationally wander in to camp and take lots of pictures. Don't worry, we will be in lion proof tents. More later.

Becca and Portia--Excellent account of what the hospital/clinic is like. I keep thinking of all the supplies/meds that outdate that are thrown away in an average U.S. hospital. Too bad some organization can't collect all of these discarded supplies and send them to different African clinics, etc. I was sitting with an Altzheimer's patient the other day and the lady in the chair across from her died and I saw them take out her drawer in a cabinet and dump the entire drawer in the garbage. PICC lines, 4x4s, rolls and rolls of tape, plastic supplies, filters, tourniquets, etc. Too bad the AHA couldn't organize a program to donate supplies to 3rd world countries. At my hospital, missionaries pick up all outdated dental supplies for dental missions in Central America. Sorry this is so long. Hope you had a good time in the desert this weekend. Jeanne
